Juan Guillermo has over 30 years of experience in international corporate and commercial law, with a strong track record in the energy, oil & gas, renewables, infrastructure and project finance sectors.
Throughout his career, he has advised multinational companies and public entities on complex investment transactions, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and project finance, with a particular focus on large-scale industrial projects across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas, especially within the energy sector.
He has held senior positions as General Counsel of international oil & gas groups, including Kuwait Petroleum International, PDVSA, BP, OQ Exploration & Production and Energy Development Oman (EDO), leading global legal teams and participating in high-value strategic projects across the entire energy value chain, including exploration and production (upstream), transportation, refining and marketing (downstream), as well as natural gas and renewable energy projects.
His experience includes the negotiation of EPC contracts, shareholders’ agreements, structured finance, legal advice on the negotiations, structuring and setup of international Joint Ventures and cross-border transactions.
Prior to joining Bartolome & Briones as Of Counsel, he worked both in-house and in international law firms, advising clients on corporate, regulatory and commercial matters across multiple sectors, including energy, industry, technology and environment.
