The European Commission has finally adopted a new adequacy decision for data transfers between Europe and the US. The new EU-US Data Privacy Framework provides new safeguards to address the points raised by the Court of Justice of the European Union. Furthermore, it offers the possibility of transferring personal data without the need to adopt some of the additional safeguards that were necessary until now. To this end, US companies must commit to “adhere” to this new EU-US Data Privacy Framework and comply with certain privacy obligations.
